Going For Gold(en Globe)

Well its this time of year again in Hollywood- Award Season!

The 75th Golden Globes  was held last night in The Beverly Hilton, Beverly Hills.

The most nominated film was fantasy/horror The Shape of Water with 7 nominationsshape of water this season. Although only took away 2 trophies at the end of the night.

  • Best Original Score.

 

 

A big winner of the night was the dark comedy crime drama Three Billboards Outside Ebbing, Missouri. Coming away with a total of 4 academy awards. 3 billboards

  • Best Motion Picture- Drama
  • Best Performance in a Motion Picture Drama- Actress
  • Best Supporting Actor in a Motion Picture
  • Best Screenplay

 

Another winner in the movie categories was the coming-of-age drama Ladybird.

  • Best Motion Picture- Comedy or Musical
  • Best Performance in a Motion Picture- Comedy or Musical – Actress

 

Times Up Everyone!

Although the awards in both, Movie and Television, are the focus of the evening. The Time’s Up! campaign was the biggest winner of the night. With the majority of guests, celebrities and winners wearing Black in defiance against the abuse scandal which has hit Hollywood hard in the recent months.

With Oprah’s powerful speech tackling gender equality and sexual harassment, celebrities are using their voices for those who doesn’t have the status and confidence to do so.

Many celebrities such as Natalie Portman, Reese Witherspoon, Meryl Streep and Emma Watson to name a few are part of the campaign that is intending to speak up and give a voice to all nationalities, genders, race and class that have had problems with sexual harassment in the workplace.

Harvey Weinstein was the story that unfolded years of sexual harassment in Hollywood and UK. The scandal triggered many more allegations against Hollywood Moguls such as  Kevin Spacey and Woody Allen.

With almost every woman in Hollywood and the majority of actors fighting against these powerful men who have used their power to control and victimise actresses and actors in the industry, I salute you all and hope this movement will change the film industry forever!
